Franz Xaver Scharwenka: German Composer, Pianist, and Educator
Born into a family of architects in Samter, Germany, Franz Xaver Scharwenka showed an early aptitude for music.
Despite his interest, he did not receive formal musical training until the age of 15, when he enrolled at the New Academy of Music in Berlin under the tutelage of Theodor Kullak (piano) and Richard Wuerst (composition).
